The soundtrack was fine, the boats were moving, but we came around the corner and saw the first Jack Sparrow (the one next to the dress dummy) with his head bowed. As we moved through the ride, we saw everything was working except the pirates - they all had their heads down. I said to my husband "Oh, they're all not working" (disappointed) and he responds with "That, or they're all checking to see if their flies are done up." Darned if he wasn't right (I mean, the heads were all bowed and the hands frozen about waist high), and the people in the row behind us started laughing hard enough to rock the boat! We returned to the dock, and as we exited the Cast Member apologized for the "sleeping pirates", and that only set us off again! I love when stuff like that happens - it "freshens" the ride for me.

I would have loved to see the 'sleeping pirates'!

It actually happened to us once on accident and the CM was like "you lucky mortals got to see something no one does here in Disneyland" LOL And then again we had someone in our group in a wheelchair and got to do it again. It was pretty cool. And with the wheelchair time we didnt get off where we all normally get off because they have no way to get the chair there so we got to ride the doom buggy all the way back around and down the stairs. Totally awesome to see the stuff back there.

<<Getting out of the boat at a steep incline was kinda scary>> That happened to me on Big Thunder. We got stuck on the hill by the turtles. The cruddy part was it was July and so hot and the sun was beating down on us. Uck.

I know this one is scheduled for a refurb at the end of September. Maybe they're doing little things now so it's a short one later.
