There will be larger crowds on the weekends, but that's just the nature of the parks, year round. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more people there the weekend of Mothers Day, but I have no idea what it's been like on that weekend in the past.

The first day of use now is May 22nd, 2008, which will keep the locals coming, based on the current crowd levels. Seems like the first 3 weeks of September, after Labor Day have been the slowest of the year.
