While I would rather keep the Christmas lights special, I could definately see them changing them. I don't know which I would prefer, since the scale of the lights now seemed to work pretty well. LED's are smaller than traditional lights, but could be modified to have covers that make them about the same size. Their color is also very pure (like a child's playset) and bright, so there would be much flexibility with individual bulbs. Fiber optics are tiny and give a very delicate ammount of light. They would also need to be placed closer together to acheive the outline effects. I think I would rather have fiber optics, since they are a lot less noticable during the day and have the potential to be a lot more flexible. I would have them just be white for the majority of the year (if they're even turned on at all), along with the traditional white flood lights on the facade. Then for Christmas, have them in different colors like how they've done it before. They could use colored flood lights if the fiber optics alone aren't bright enough (which would be pretty likely) to compliment them. They could also make the colors change and do different patterns during the projections if they wanted, which could add something cool to the little display they already have. They could also do it for the regular fireworks through out the year as well.
