She told us she also went to Kottsberry and it was so awesome and much better then DL. Like are people fricken nuts or something???? I explained to her how Knotts is something more for teenagers looking for a thrill and Dl is very detailed, creative and more adults appreciate DL. I really am shaking my head here and really dont understand how people want just a quick thrill over being visually stimulated?? Dont get me wrong i like a good rollercoaster myself but for that i prefer 6 flags to Knotts But never would say 6 flags is better then DL. Ahhh what can you do i guess it takes certain people to appreciate creativity and imagination.

    Disneyland is about the magic.

All the rest are amusement parks. The rides are generic, and if you showed a picture of them, many would not know exactly where that "ride" was. It could be a ride, anywhere.

Knott's comes a little closer to thematic attempts due to what Walter Knott tried to establish so many years ago. But that seems to have largely fallen by the wayside.

Sure there are similar rides to the tea cups at other parks, but the tea cups are pure Disney. The park, and its attractions, have established themselves as recognizable, and special, even if some of them are similar to other "rides" at other parks.

And I think therein lies part of the difference, they're "rides" at other parks, at Disneyland they have been elevated to the level of attractions.

The other difference is in the imagination and the magic that Disneyland has the monopoly on in my opinion.

The thrills at Magic Mountain and Knott's vs. those at Disneyland will always be a debate, and there will always be those who choose the two former parks.

For me, it's DL. All the way. For all the aforementioned reasons, and more.

    Nothing compares.

Totally agree. It just bugs me to hear "Disneyland is for little kids"
There are not other parks in the world that have such a adult fan base as Disney. Yes Disney is for kids and Adults where a place like MM or KBF are geared more towards teenagers.

This comment really struck me because it's issue that I've been complaining about for a long time now. Disney needs to be very mindful of the direction they are taking their parks. With all of the recent Princess and Pixar additions I have to say that I agree with her.

Also since DL hasen't changed in appearence a lot in some areas she probably is confused.

Yes the Haunt is excellent, i am leaning more towards universal's version.

I actually have a all year pass for Knotts and whenever i go, i do ghostrider go in a few shops and leave.

This is true Hans but i dont really think HM, POC, Indy or TOT are really geared towards little kids. In fact i have seen kids crying on all of these rides before. I have also heard kids complaining HM and Poc were boring. I dont know i guess it's personal prefrence.

My other co-worker is getting a chance to go to Paris next month. So i told her you have to try out DLP at least one day. She has never been to a disney park ever and said why would i waste my time going to stupid Disneyland?? I was so offended lol.

Also a friend and daughter who have had DL APs went to Paris and decided not to do DLP.

There's a lot to see in Europe besides Disney, so I get it :)

    Wow. Really Lulu?
Just the re-scripted PotC alone would have me at DLP.

Or .. have you been there at least once before?

There are people for whom a 20 year old Geo Metro that gets from point A to B is just fine, and then there are folks who spend extra money to buy an Audi for the Quattro all wheel drive and finely crafted interior fit and finish.

The same analogy applies to restaurants, furniture, hotels, any number of consumer experiences.

Some people just love Knott's Berry Farm and drool over Six Flags, and some people find those parks trashy, crass and boring. To each his own.

No i totally get it. I told her all about DLP and she even wants to go to DL. I suggested she go for only one day but to call it stupid was weird for me. I one day want to go to DLP and my trip would be based around DLP.

I think it has more to do with Disney synergy; that they have the movies and so on. KBF has virtually no presence outside of the park, so I just don't think about it much. Consequently, the only thing I go to KBF for is for the chicken.

We took school trips to Magic Mountain as well as Disneyland... it was fun, but if I'd ever been asked to choose between the two - no contest... Disneyland would win without a second thought.

I'll admit to mild curiousity when we're on the freeway (Mr. Alice and I often head to Redondo Beach for breakfast at "Eat at Joe's" one morning during Disneyland visits) and I see the Knott's exit signs on one side and the coasters on the other. But I have no desire to give up a day at Disneyland to check it out.

That said, the only overseas Disney parks I'd really love to see are those in Tokyo. We may do Europe someday, but Paris DL would be an unlikely stop - too many other things to do/see.
