Comparing network TV late shows, I like Letterman yet also enjoy Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon' shows. I do turn on the TV and change channels to specifically see Kimmel and Fallon. And, cable also has popular contenders in the late night category, where CoCo will be joining the ranks soon. It would interesting to see the whole picture, and also bring Soccer World Cup into the mix, when talking about Leno and Letterman's dwindling ratings.

Letterman has even trailed Nightline recently too. His NBA Finals Game Night series was also very popular (although I'm sure it was helped that the series needed every game). I really can't stand to watch Leno - I can only think he appeals to people born pre-television - he isn't funny and isn't even a good interviewer (so pandering in his delivery). I've always prefer Dave but I think when he is entirely on his game that Jimmy is the funniest of the three by a mile.

They also just launched a new website intended to promote those discs while also offering selected online clips. Supposedly, they have now digitized all surviving episodes (most of the episodes from before the early 1970s are lost) and expect to offer them online at some point in the future. http://www.johnnycarson.com -Jeff
