Each car held four people, two in the front, two in the back, for a total capactiy of eight people per rocket train (versus the max of 6 there is today). Technically, you wouldn't have been sitting ON their laps, but IN FRONT of them, but, hey, close enough!

The trains were modified to single seats during the late 1980s, I believe.

If, on the other hand, all they do is replace the existing track and layout as it is, they may have to stick with the current seating due to space considerations and clearance issues. No matter which direction they choose for the rehab, I'm betting strongly that the ride will eventually have on-board music like some of the other Space Mountains.

Personally, I'd like to see them keep the layouts pretty much intact, just replace the track where needed and improve the special effects and theming.

    Really??

I've been told no money has been approved/allocated yet for any Space Mountain work.

I'd love to be wrong here ... but I don't think I am.
