Add in the constraints of working inside an already built building (they usually build the track and then put the building around it), and having to take out the current track, and that would add some serious time to the project. I would definatley believe it could be done in 18 months, but 9 is kind of pushing it.

As for adding sound, it may be a second blessing in disguise. If they do it in a similar way to how it was done in DL (which I would hope they would have learned from by now), they could easily be in a situation where they would need to replace the entire track in just a few years. The reason for replacing DL's track was that the added weight of the sound system caused stress fractures in the track over time, and they deemed it unsafe to operate any longer, shutting it down for an emergency 3-year rehab (that was shortened by several months to get it opened for the 50th, by paying for lots of overtime).

    Well ...
it wouldn't be so bad if most of the latest Pixar changes from park to park were appropriately placed.

    It's like ...
Oh here's the latest Pixar ride idea. Now what land can we shoe-horn it in, even if it doesn't fit the land's primary theme?

Monsters Inc. Comedy Club .. perfect example!

Pixar may be the best Disney has right now ... Doesn't mean the overall tone of Pixar is just a bit too harsh on the "contrast" compared to the rest of Disney where the overall tone isn't as "sharp" and "in your face".

That's part of the joy of wild mouses (mice? meese??), that they can be constructed very quickly. Most track designs are created in a way that they can be packed up and moved very easily to go aorund with traveling carnivals(including the one used for Mullholland Madness, why else would they have the huge cage-like structure holding it up instead of a couple sturdy columns into deep fountations?). While I have no doubt that it would be entirely possible to replace one track in a building in 9 months if really nessecary, I think it would be fairly tough to do it with two tracks, especially ones that are so long as Space Mountain (MM isn't known for being a nice long ride...I'd be surprised if it was even 60 seconds) in that time period. Factor in the close proximity of set pieces and walls (the tunnels at the beginning and end), and there are plenty of little things that add a ton of difficulty on to the project.

Now, if they really wanted to, I'm sure they could replace the entire thing in 9 months. However, I just don't think Disney sees the need to rush it and pay all of the extra overtime for that to happen, when they could just as easily keep it closed for a year or more.

Umm it passes the filters and those suckers are STRICT (no photobucket, blogs, yuku boards etc) but of course *I* wouldn't know ;)

Is it something in each car or is it something added to the building?

But it does seem that WDW might start considering creating a more common location for PIXAR since it seems that they are going to be a major player for the forseeable future. Toontown would seem like the logical location to me. Not because of spacing or land just in theme.

He's not saying he better than you specifically, he is saying it too everyone. I think half the time Spirit does this to facilitate his sense of humor. I like the Spirit. He is witty and funny and I look forward to his posts. He is also very well informed. So don't get upset when he prods you. Prod back. He can take it as well as he gives...........................................................................................BTW props for being a server. It's a tough job that not everyone has the patience for. One comment. Why do you have to tip out a percentage of the check rather than a percentage of the tips? It doesn't seem fair that you could actually lose money when patrons don't tip enough.

Yes,.....but they kept the track layout/dimemsions, as far as I can tell, *exactly* the same.

They changed the rockets, added in some effects and enhanced the sound and lighting.

///what are the sound effects that everyone keeps talking about that might be added? Is it something in each car or is it something added to the building?///

---certainly in each rocket...... and I would assume in the building too.
