While it dosn't seem that any changes to the actual ride for Spaceship Earth are on the horizon (for now) there seems to be a suggestion that the theme of Spaceship Earth may be taking a new direction.

The coming soon sign posted on the construction wall as you exit Spaceship Earth indicates the area will be celebrating the "inginuity" of achievements.

This suggests a couple of things to me.

First, it opens up a huge spectrum of what could be the focus. It also does not lock Imagineering into thinking of the future. The naming of Future World (as well as MK Tomorrowland) seems to put Imagineering in a corner - what attractions can be made for the long haul that will remain a vision of the furute 10-15 years from now?

"Inginuity" can simply suggest that attractions be based on celebrating what we have already accomplished. If this is the case for Disney it allows them the freedom to focus more on what we are doing now versus what we can be doing.

The scary part of this is that it could allow Epcot to finish going down the road of themes that do not necessarilly focus on the future such as Test Track and the soon-to-be The Seas With Nemo And Friends.

The bright side of this is that it could offer Imagineers the opportunity to revise Spaceship Earth with the same style of AA ride it is now but change it in a way that celebrates "inginuity" rather than just communication.

Think of the possibilities of getting back some of the great set pieces from Horizons and World Of Motion all in one attraction. There was plenty of inginuity displayed in those attractions.

I have many other thoughts on this but I'll save them for further comment or another thread.

I'd love to hear other thoughts.

Giving the Imaginears open and freedom to do what they need, and that tends to be the best thing for them. Not having any rules or restrictions it gives them a chance to be wonderful.

What ever they decide to do, I'm looking forward to it.

Inginuity, to me, suggests the application of the ideas that stem from one's imagination.

To illustrate I'll pull a scene from Carousel of Progress when the father dispells any belief that snap-on electric lights will ever come into existance or that Lindburg's flight will never work. As we all know those historical figures made it work! They had the vision to conceive their concepts, but it was their inginuity (trial, error, and experimentation) that made their dream a reality.

Spaceship Earth does an excellent job of showcasing inginuity but it is all relative to communication. And since Siemens isn't just a communications company as AT&T, it seems that their focus could shift on showcasing ideas that have come to improve our lives (as well as some on the horizon).

When Epcot opened, this was a common theme in the former attractions of Horizons and World Of Motion - start by showing where we came from, what we have done to improve, and where we are going.

Siemens has several businesses under their corporate umbrella where technology and inginuity serve many of our every day applications. That is why I found the word "ininuity" a very interesting chocie on the sign.

ssWEDguy I hope this helps clarify my interpretation of things. I enjoy your threads. It is interesting to get the perspective of someone who works around the guests an is directly affected by the choices of WDW management.

Which is something I would like to see more from the current management at WDW.

Almost like the weasels who monitor these boards went thru and picked a fanboy/girl top 10 list and never bothered to even think about implementation before they announced it.

I can't wait to see how they're going to have a family spend the night in Cindy's Castle, for example.
