Then we heard that it is for all those staying in the DVC's. Then we heard it was for all guests at the Grand. I can't imagine how they are going to use it as it's really not that big. As most things Disney we'll have to wait and see :) That is unless another LPer has better information :)

It is a pretty bad view for World of Color. The video that ran here on LP in early April was shot from the Terrace:

From the sounds in the background, it would appear that guests were able to go out there that night. I went up during the day a few days later, and found it open. (The daytime view is beautiful!) Friends who went back at night told me it was locked.

There's already a fireworks channel on the TV that has the fireworks soundtrack. Presumably it will also carry WoC. So, the soundtrack should be piped into any room that has the TV turned on and tuned to that channel.

The observation deck is about 650 to 700 square feet in space which isn't very large. The hotel plans (I have a set) seem to indicate that the observation deck is part of DVC, but the hallway to it is a common hotel hallway.

So, I guess that we won't know until WOC starts and hotel guests and DVC members try to use the deck.

I just checked into my room. Unfortunately, no upgrade to park view this time. Imagine if I had that same room as last time? Some lucky guest is in there right now.

Hound, when we bought into DVC, they also told us the Grand viewing platform was for DVC use only and he made it sound like it was for those who were on the bottom floor. The pitch sounded like there would have been a special key for those guests. Looks like that changed a lot, like many things.

The viewing area certainly would not hold many viewers.

SuperDry-- see if you can check the door on Friday or Saturday night, and let us know if it is unlocked, available to hotel guests, or still locked while WoC is actually running for the public.

I went up there about an hour ago. The door was locked, there was a sign that said "Private Event" but my (non-DVC) room key opened the door. I went out there and could see all of the setup being done for tonight's show, but nothing was going on in the observation area itself.

Since it was such a nice day, I went back to my room to get my laptop and figured I'd go back out there and sit until someone told me to leave, but by the time I got back, my room key no longer worked in the lock! Either someone stopped by in the 10 minutes I was gone and reset the lock, or it's on some sort of timer that lets hotel guests in during the day but not at night.
