    Have they remodeled lately?

I was looking on their website at room rates and I plugged in dates of Jan 22-23.
$59 per night for a deluxe room came up.
Is this too good to be true?
Just down the block (closer to the entrance crosswalk) BWPPI is $119 per night.

Is Desert Inn a dump or is this just a great deal??

My crazy Aunt and I were thinking of making a Disney commando trip for 2 days.

We would just be sleeping in the room, so it needs to be clean and a comfy bed.

    Any thoughts?

I haven't heard that it's been remodeled since. Oh, parking can be a problem, especially if you plan on coming and going. You didn't mention that you were going to swim in their advertised indoor swimming pool, you said you were just there for sleeping. Anyway, my kids enjoyed the pool but the pool room was much too cold for me.

My aunt swims every morning, so if she wants to brave the cold she can swim while I sleep.

How was the walk to DL?
It looks pretty close on Bret's map.

I was just at DL last month but the Super Shuttle didn't go near that side. I was trying to scope out all the motels as we drove by.

I haven't stayed there myself, so don't have any personal input to offer. Based on their discussions in the above referenced topic, I am inclined to avoid the place.

Just be careful when paying for your room, watch your credit card for more charges, some other LPers have had problems with double charges, thankfully we didn't. We are thinking of staying there again in the future. It was nice having 4 beds to fit our family (we have 4 kids) and being so close to Disneyland. Hope that helps you.

For our trip in 5 days (YAY!) I looked at them again, but Park Vue had a better rate so we went with them. I will try to post how it goes when we get back in 2 weeks (Wahhh!).

Probably being stubborn but I don't feel they deserve my money again.

Maybe we'll just go ahead and pay more and stay at BWPPI, I don't want any problems on my Disney Commando trip.

On our trip to DL last month we stayed at DLH.
The morning of our check-out my bill was fine, but my BIL had $70 erroneous valet charges to his room. We didn't even have a car, we arrived by Super Shuttle.
So he had to go down to the front desk to take care of that in the morning.

It looks like it happens everywhere.
But Desert Inn sounds like it's over the top.

Maybe the shuttle valet parked in your brother in laws name? :p

    Good luck with your decision.

I'd say if you are looking for a "no-frills" place to sleep (only!) and want a short walk, $59 is a fair price. We had reservations for 3 1/2 weeks from now for $79 for the 2-room suite. I was able to get "La Quinta" for even a little cheaper thru getawaytoday.com. so I cancelled my D.I. ressies. I'd personally rather pay to park than stay there- if I can get cheaper elsewhere where there's less of a gamble of getting dirty room (I'm wondering if we were just fortunate with our room, KWIM?) Just my .02

The hotel was clean, my billing was perfect and it was the only hotel within walking distance that I could get a room to sleep 7 for $99/night. We thoughly enjoyed the park and really weren't to focused on the hotel room. Getting a good price for the room allowed us to stay 2 more days.

I have never had any issues with the front desk clerks. Always friendly at check-in and check-out time. Always got accurate billing on my credit card.
The parking is sometimes an issue but they are working on the situation by monitoring who parks in the lot when it gets busy... The last time I was there, the security guard was checking for parking permits. It was nice to see that someone was paying attention to it.
Anyway, my experiences have always been very pleasant at Anaheim Desert Inn, and have not encountered anything negative. After all, the room is just a place to rest up and sleep - Disneyland is the main reason to be there! =)

They are no longer a Disney Good Neighbor hotel/motel either!

I know we all have differant standards about what is clean and nice, but I will never foget the blood on the pillow, the dirty feel of the rooms nor the smell of decomposing hair coming up through the bathroom sink.

I will say that I personally do have a high standard of what is clean and nice, and I certainly would not accept blood on any pillows either. With that said, I will also say that I have not encounter that or any dirty-feeling rooms at Anaheim Desert Inn, and I visit the area quite often.
I am truly sad that there are such bitter feelings out there for this place.
If you hate it, move on from the hate, and just focus on the positives that are out there -> Disneyland and the other few dozen motels/hotels that are out there waiting for a chance to serve...
