Ok, this part of his critique of the show from the above article DAR posted really pissed me off. I might be off base here but what is so friggin' hard to figure out and understand about Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder?

I'm really struggling with people only being able to see the past 10 to 15 years and not understanding that there's a lifetime lost here, not just one particular span. If the things suggested did happen than it's horrific and there's no denying how wrong it is but Michael Jackson did a lot of good, more good than many of us can achieve in our life times.

Wonder and Jackson grew up together, they worked many many times together. They share so many traits. They grew up in the same style environment. They are both geniuses.

I guess people do not have friends or family members that were one way as children, young adults and then took a turn maybe you were incapable of understanding. Or ran into trouble in their lives. I have family members in prison, I have family members who have done some awful things as adults. They pass away and then you mourn, sometimes you mourn for what they could have been, what they should have been, for the mystery of what happen to cause them their pain or trouble. You mourn your memories of that person at their best and your times together before their issues happen. You mourn for their families and loved ones.

These men are human. Just because they are in the public eye and live lives we will never experience doesn't make their passing or grief any less.

I just don't get the reaction of some. I guess they don't understand mine either. <sigh>

    Sorry X for the rant.

That is very true, perfectly said.

That's because they're nowhere near as talented as MJ was. Britney is a great dancer, but come ON - her voice was soooooooooo processed on her songs. And Lindsay, well, good actress, but a wreck personally.

That said, I don't think the reviewer was wrong to note that Stevie gave what appears to have been a completely unprofessional show. But I agree that the reviewer's challenging of Stevie's exhortation that we should forget Michael's possible transgressions does seem ignorant of the relationship Stevie and Michael shared.

    Why?

Because Stevie is a GENIUS who is entitled to preform any show any way he wants to. If you pay for a ticket to see Stevie Wonder, he doesn't "owe" you anything (not any particular SONG, or any set amount of time, or anything) other than to appear. The rest is gravy.

I would only say that about a select few, but Stevie is one of them (sadly, Michael Jackson would be another, which makes me bummed about the fact that he was so stressed about making these upcoming shows "perfect", or "acceptable" or whatever...because he could've just gone with a more mellow set with very little dancing and I think (just *I* think, mind you) that would've been just fine).

So if Stevie wants to pay some tribute, shed some tears, whatever, I hardly think that is "unprofessional" (but only if you're one of the worlds shining geniuses...that goes a long way in my book).
