I love the little dust bunnies and house spirits.. you see them again in "Spirited Away" which goes into a lot more detail about spirits or guardians of places.. Totoro & Kiki's Delivery Service were the first films of Studio Ghibli I ever seen and am now a big fan. Howl's Moving Castle which came out last year was fantastic too.. I'm looking forward to seeing "Whisper of the Heart" as it's the precursor of "The Cat Returns" which I liked a lot as well (and no I don't like all the films.. not a big fan of Princess Mononoke although it's well done).

Spirited Away was too bizarre for my tastes, but Totoro kept the fantasy elements to a minimum, and focused much more on the family itself. I really loved Mei... I wish I could hug her! Definitely want to buy the DVD.
