But I do think it's going to a good season, looking forward to watching.

Also feel bad for Francessqua (lol), but I hope Corinne gets more air time...love her! Dawn is still my girl though!

And does anybody else think that they may have filmed this before the last season aired? Nobody seemed to have any idea who Malcolm was, and he was very quiet compared to how he controlled the game last time. It's not a complete give-away, but it does sort of make me scratch my head

And I agree that the 'cool kids alliance' on the Gota tribe is a little ridiculous. Like the 'cool kids' in high school, I think they'll be in for a rude awakening once they discover that nobody actually likes them. I'm also not such a fan of the Marine who seems to think he knows everything, so I'd be happy to see him go early too

Due to budget cuts, Survivor films their seasons back-to-back in the same place for two seasons. Philippines and this season are the exact locations from last season. (Caramoan is just more specific when naming the location). Now they are naming one of the two seasons after the location, and the second a theme (Redemption island, One World, Fans Vs. Favorites, etc.).

As far as the Malcolm scenario goes, no one knows him, you are correct. When he was asked if he would be interested in returning to another season at the reunion show, he had (I believe) filmed the second season. He only had a two week gap between seasons and the people on the island currently had not seen the premiere of his season.

    There is your Survivor lesson...lol.

Not to mention the mental aspects of everything! I'll be interested to see how it works out for him.

And I agree that the cool kid alliance is pretty bad, but they seem mostly dumb and harmless (really, you showed everybody the idol as soon as you found it?). Shamar is really annoying, and will likely get in the way long before he's able to do anything strategic.

I was wondering the same thing. I thought a couple of the girls were going to join the 'pretty people' alliance and vote Shamar. Editing didn't show what turned their votes back to the original plan. Chickened out?

On the other hand, while he is generally useless around camp, Shamar does add physical strength to the team for challenges. It may be worth their while to keep him until closer to a merge.

It's always nice to have an easy target to deflect votes from yourself, and it appears that Shamar is fitting that role very nicely. If there's a mid-way tribe shakeup, or after the merge, I suspect he'll be gone quickly, since he's just so freaking annoying.

I thought it was odd that they thought they needed to go for a 3-way tie on the votes, rather than just vote someone out directly. I don't think there was any real danger of the idol getting played, and even if it did, that would just take out Shamar, which would be a good thing. Some times it's good to have a big person for challenges, but I don't think he's worth keeping around long-term.

And what ever happened to those girls who were talking about switching their vote to go with the pretty people? I don't think they ever explained why they decided to go with the original plan

I don't think Survivor cares too much about the psychological health of its players - the crazier they are, the better the ratings.

I agree that Phillip also looked pretty bad in this whole thing. I suspect that the tribe members will look at him differently after seeing how he reacted; if it were up to me, he would be the next to get voted out.

I'm a little confused about the whole hidden idol thing. In my mind, if you use the idol, you've used it and it's gone forever; there shouldn't be another one hiding somewhere to be used again. It sort of cheapens the whole thing (which I think is a little dumb to begin with)

It looks like next week is either the merge, or one of those intermediate ones, where they mix people around, but still have 2 separate tribes. It will be interesting to see what comes out of that, since the tide will change with either of those options
