Okay, I had to say that after seeing this mentioned a few times in the Least Favorite Attraction thread. My jaw dropped open when I started seeing it listed in posts, and especially if they were from LPers I "know" and respect, lol.

Honestly, I can't imagine anyone not liking it. But apparently some don't. My sister and I have been in love with it since we were kids. These are the reasons why it is so dear to my heart:

--I love the film (minus Kevin Corcoran as Francis). And it was always such a fantasy wishing I could escape into that tropical treetop home--and this attraction lets me live out that fantasy.

--I've lived in Kentucky all my life (to date), and have only had the pleasure of being at WDW 3 times so far, so it seemed extra special those times I got to go up in it since it's such a rare occasion.

--Due to traveling distance while growing up my sister and I didn't get to see our mom's parents nearly as much as our dad's (though now I live closer to mom's), and we loved to peruse through Grandmommy's 4-set of "The Wonderful World of Disney" hardback books that came out in the '60s with the green covers ("Fantasyland", "America", "Stories From Other Lands", "World of Nature"), and we always loved reading through the Swiss Family Robinson story in one of those and looking at the great Disney Studio pictures...so it was only fitting and very special indeed that our very first time in the Treehouse was as kids with Grandmommy and Papa Dan, our grandparents whose house felt like a magical getaway in itself, and where we would read about the Treehouse in Grandmommy's wonderfully "old-smelling" Disney book from that '60s set.

--This attraction is *extremely* well-done. I mean you really feel as if you're living in the film, and that is what I think is the ultimate goal of the attraction. I have pictures of it that I cherish from my last 2 visits there in '95 and '99 and I marvel at the tiniest little details of how they replicated so many things from the film's Treehouse.

--The signs "written in the voice" of Father Robinson are a brilliant way of reminding film fans or introducing new ones to the purpose of the different rooms and giving a feel of the family's pioneering ways on the island.

--It's a beautiful getaway in the daytime with the greens of the plants and the bright sun shining on their relics and innovations, but it is also a mystical place filled with a sense of adventure and fantasy at night. I love being up in the branches and staring down into the dark, dark river of Adventureland, wondering what strange creatures could be lurking in those murky waters...I love staring off into the dense, dark foliage and thinking that maybe behind all that undergrowth are dangerous animals I can't see...wishing I could go undetected from the CMs and actually spend a night in one of those little "rooms" under the stars...it really takes you out of WDW and into a tropical island all its own.

--And I have to say that a treetop view of the fireworks over Cinderella's Castle is a wonderful way to see those blazing sparks from a nice distance.

So there. I love the Swiss Family Treehouse, I hope others do, and I was shocked to see that some don't. I know that we're all different with various likes and dislikes, but if you really don't like the Treehouse, well at least maybe you can get a little insight now as to why this some of us do.

(Thank goodness no one said "The Haunted Mansion" in that Least Favorite thread! lol...*phew*)

At any rate... we don't love it because of its relationship to a movie or anything else.

We love it because it is CLASSIC DISNEY at it's finest. Who the heck EXCEPT Walt would ever green light an attraction like that?

The Treehouse has an attention to detail that you would never find in a non-Disney park, and rarely find in a Disney Park.

I think it is a true Disney Classic. I would be very saddened to see it go.

Yup...and as for the "Tarzan" one in DL, I didn't go when I was there in 2004, and I have no plans to ever. You do NOT mess with a Disney classic!

np--although this attraction is not my cup of tea, I still expect to see it there and would not want to see it go..it is classic Disney. I do not think it is an attrocity like a certain playground.....

I don't like the teacups any more either for a different reason, but I surley believe they belong right where they are also.

And unlike that McPooPooPlaygound, the Treehouse provides a way to burn off energy and calories for kids and parents, ah ... I think I figured out why it isn't so popular.

But I love the music. I love the way it's designed. I love feeling like a kid and climbing all the way up there.

I like the DL Tarzan Treehouse too, but it always seemed different as a Treehouse since it is so close to New Orleans Square, and the line starts in the middle of the walkway. I prefer how the WDW Treehouse is more isolated and better integrated into Adventureland.
