Didja see the way she was draggin' her dang brat by the hair? Ya'd think SHE was Madame Brothel!!!

Although it was very well done, PATF didn't get the box office crowds they were expecting, largely because people saw it as a movie exclusively for little girls. So they decided to switch up the marketing for Rapunzel (even going as far as to change the name to Tangled), hoping that it would appeal more to the crowds that show up to see the latest Dreamworks schlock. All reports I've read (including mawnck's one from a test screening a few months ago, posted in the Animated Films section of the LP boards!) say that it's a very good film, and the marketing is quite misleading. Hopefully they mislead people in who will enjoy it, instead of just turning away the already-small crowd they thought they could rely on.

This is exactly how the teaser trailer comes across to me. <<<Hopefully they mislead people in who will enjoy it, instead of just turning away the already-small crowd they thought they could rely on.>>> They've already turned me off of it. From the name change, to the obnoxious trailer, I have no desire to see it.

This time around they're changing things so drastically that it's probably gonna' end up being a good thing that the title was changes, too, even though it's not a very appealing title. ORDDU: The film may be wonderful but it's not going to be about the same Rapunzel we all read about in the original fairy tale. They're trying to be somewhat hip and edgy with this new replacement Rapunzel. Plus they totally discarded the original prince, which is a big disappointment for Rapunzel purists. Instead Rapunzel falls for an outlaw on the run. But we'll soon see for ourselves how successful this turns out to be.

WDFA is the #4 player (at best) in the animated film industry, everyone needs to wake up and see that.

I am convinced the marketing is doing this film a great disservice. It might be closer to "Disney" than we think. Any word if it will be a musical?
