Thats why I'm happy the elevator is where it is, the pirates store is to cramped in the back to move... there is a side entrance which is near the restrooms to access the store from, also that area of the store is more friendly for manual wheelchairs.

And if anyone wants to understand the epidemic of childhood obesity in this country, all they had to do was be in Fantasyland around 4 p.m. today ... on a day that I wouldn't even consider meoderately crowded, almost the entire walkway between PhilharMagic and the Carousel was blocked with parked double-wide strollers (and some ECVs and wheelchairs too). I'm sorry, but if your child is old enough to walk (and that's between 3-5 for most) they should be expected to do so. This is such a joke it's sick really ... lazy, fat parents who are selfish and don't want breaks or to leave the parks and they allow their kids to be pushed around all day.

    pathetic

I think they should play the "Super Size Me" documentary on tv in those cart queues...

Spirit, I agree with you 100%. I have seen it in my own family (cousins, not immediate - I would never have stood for it!)

I started taking my kids to the parks when they were 2 and 4 years old. They both walked - even at that age - as long as we were there. I admit that they were always good travelers and knew what was expected of them. I wouldn't have had it any other way.

I hate to stereotype, but too many parents today find it easier to allow the system to be abused (and abuse it themselves) than to parent, and teach right from wrong.

(Okay - this hits a nerve for me which is greater than simply this issue.)

There was a post here a while back about a Dad getting so ticked at one of those folding SUV's he heaved it off the tram and left it there. I can relate to that. For the short time we even brought a stroller - it was always the light weight umbrella stroller - small - thin - weighs almost nothing. Basically used it when they would nap slightly - ( although we always tried to go back to the room at regular nap time - rather than drag the kids around in a coma) --

the generation today though seems to think that every kid has to have 30 toys - a weeks supply of food - and 3 changes of clothes with them at all times - like we were on safari, not in WDW. My new favorite are the strollers with the built in CD players - can never stimulate those kids too much.
    Crazy !

Does any child really need constant stimulation to behave? Or a constant baby sitter? How about teaching the child the proper behavior from the start?

The bottom line is that I have turned out two very successful children who have at times thanked my wife and myself for not allowing them to become what so many kids appear to be becoming today.

And guess what she isn't fat and lazy. Even though after the last few incidents I want to rent her a stroller so I can push her around the park while yelling"Excuse me, child in stroller move out of my way" or "Sorry I hit your foot but I have a child in a stroller so you should have moved out of my way"

He would go through the parks yelling "Outta my way" or "Look out". My wife and I trued to make him understand that is was rude, and for a few times he did yell "Excuse me", but that didn't last long.

<sigh> Parents - dress 'em up and you can't take them anywhere! <G>

People never fold them up, so you have to wait ... then they take up a seat and/or block you.

It is a disaster and it wasn't this way even a decade ago, although that's about when it started ... and you never see scenes like this played out at DL or DLP.

I have mixed feelings about this, except for the loud part - that's what headphones are for! A couple WDW trips ago, I was eating dinner in Le Cellier beside a nice young couple and their 2-3 year old daughter. She had a dvd player with headphones, and was quietly enjoying cartoons while mom & dad had a nice dinner. Now, I generally feel like you, in that kids should learn early on how to behave at the table. But it was hard to argue with the success of that family's arrangement. The child was happy, the parents were happy, and the other diners nearby (ME!) were happy. Sometimes you just gotta cave in to technology . . .

However, on vacation when eating out is a part of it - if the child has not already learned how to be have (and why hasn't he/she?) then yes, I do find the use of a DVD acceptable.

Oh how I wish I was. I live in a town that consistently ranks in top 10 Money magazine places to live...very nice, great parks, library system school systeme tc-- but with that comes the certain % of the population that has more than just about anybody and is dying to show it off.

Maclaren I believe is the brand - they make a large number of strollers in the $350 - $1000 range. The one everyone was ogling in our downtown area had all leather and a CD player. Other companies out there like stokke xplory and others all in the $800 type range.
    insanity in all it's finest.

I'm figuring soon they will all be in custom shop getting DVD systems and A/C
