It is not just a case of making the woman see the baby so she hopefully changes her mind, because they voted down an amendment that would change it to just a regular ultrasound at the discretion of the woman and her doctor. It is basically punishment for any woman deciding to have an abortion. The vaginal ultrasound would be especially traumatic for rape victims seeking an abortion, as if they hadn't been through enough already.
