Americans are not remotely split on the issue of whether women should have access to birth control. They overwhelmingly want these things to be available. So the GOP overreaches and it blows up in their face.

    Nice, huh?

It is not just a case of making the woman see the baby so she hopefully changes her mind, because they voted down an amendment that would change it to just a regular ultrasound at the discretion of the woman and her doctor.

It is basically punishment for any woman deciding to have an abortion. The vaginal ultrasound would be especially traumatic for rape victims seeking an abortion, as if they hadn't been through enough already.

I don't like it when the title of the bill no longer reflects what the bill does. I don't like it when either party does this

So the GOP hates not only women, but gays, foreigners and Native Americans as well.

    As the article says:

"The VAWA reauthorization also expands the availability of visas for undocumented immigrants who have been victims of domestic violence and may be reluctant to come forward because of the risk of deportation. VAWA has always protected this group of individuals, but the reauthorization would raise the cap on visas for battered women and sexual assault victims from 10,000 to 15,000. The additional visas would come from recaptured visas in previous years that haven't been utilized."

Senator Charles Grassley, the repulsive GOP from Iowa, says in the link:

"VAWA is meant to protect victims of violence. It shouldn't be an avenue to expand immigration law or give additional benefits to people here unlawfully."

Up yours Grassley, and anyone who tries to justify this. Absolutely pathetic, a new low.
