So, we were tagged with colored wrist bands and sent to a table to pick up a large black long sleeved, turtle-neck tee, a MM Club Sticker, Black MM ears, and a black sack with gold sparkly pom poms inside. We were then split up according to our wrist band color, and sent to our respective zones. There was the red team (me), Purple, blue, and green. We filled in a carpeted area in font of the Main St. Train station, and began to practice and rehearse.

A guy stood on top of the Main St. train station, and instructed us over the PA system. We were all told to wear black pants and dark shoes ahead of time, so we were all uniform. If you happened to have white shoelaces or the like, it was covored with black ducktape. We were given cues to follow and told what to do, in terms of singing and waving our pom poms.

Then, we were led down main st., to the front of the castle. They had ducktaped a black mickey mouse head to the ground, and again, we filled it up, accoridng to our colors. Then, we rehearsed the whole show, along with the origianl mousketeers, the DL band, Mickey MOuse, and Matt Ouimette (sp?).

They gave us a quick break to use the restroom before the big moment.

Picture this: When we funneled back onto our balck mickey mouse head, we were entirely black ourselves. not even the gold pom poms were showing, because they were hidden in the black sacks that were hanging around out necks. So, we were a pure black Mickey mouse head (actually, a MM hat), and in the center, we were holding a large parachute-like circle of fabric with the MM club logo on it. So, basically, we were a Mickey Mouse hat, like the ones we were wearing.

Then, the show began. The music cued up, and out came the original mousketeers from underneath the center parachute thingy, doing the roll call like they did on the TV show. We all swayed to the music, smiling like castmembers, trying our hardest to look perky for the cameras. We clapped our hands, snapped our fingers, applauded, cheered, said our lines, and sang, all on cue. It went wonderfully, and the cameras that were 120 ft. in the air on a crane were taping all of us. We were a part of history! And all of us made sure to keep good attitudes. Luckily, we had a nice cloud cover for the majority of the show, so we weren't baking in the sun at all.

So, the mousketeers gave their little speils, Matt came out and spoke, and the band played their songs. Then at the end, the grand finale was the singing of the Mickey Mouse Club March. When we got to the spelling out of Mickey's name, we all got hold of our pom poms in our bags, and prepared to whip them out on cue. We sang "Now it's time to say goodbye, to all our company. M-I-C See you real soon! K-E-Y Why? Because we like you! M-O-U-S-E!!!
And on "E", we all whiped them out of our bags, and by pure magic, the black mickey mouse head transformed into a golden one, thereby saluting the 50 years of the MM club.

It was wonderful to be a part of!

We were channeled over to the Festival Arena, where we were all treated to a hot breakfast, and given certificates for being a part of it all, stating that we were honorary MM Club Members.

I was sooooo glad to be a part of it!
We even got to keep all the things they gave us- hats, shirts, pom poms, and all. I plan on making a shadow box with it all, combined with my Disneyland July 17th memorabelia!
