I only offer this here because we have a few Glenn Beck fans around these parts. But, as Joe Scarborough also said, Glenn Beck, crazy person, seems to be living up to that label before our very eyes. He's always had a conspiratorial tone, but recently he's gone completely off the rails. It's this end of days, apocalyptic tone that also led to the demise of Beck's hero, W. Cleon Skousen. Skousen was still preaching his anti-communist rhetoric long into the 70s and his extremism led to denunciation from his own LDS church and conservatives like William F. Buckley. Beck seems destined (hopefully) to follow in Skousen's entirely unremarkable path, to be a fossil of paranoid delusions for future eras.

'ecdc' makes a point, establishment republican figures are concerned about Beck's commentarys too. He's too fringy even for them. In the all important upcoming election cycle, they don't want him saying inflammatory things that will reflect on the GOP. And these are people who have the power and ability to muzzle him, at least somewhat. Beck will very possiby be removed entirely from Fox, maybe even before the end of summer. The real surprise will be if his radio show is cancelled. If so, that will be a crystal clear indicator of who's controlling the nation's airwaves.

Some people hate others who are different then them, it sad but it was always been that way. But all I know is myself, and I choose to love even those who hate me.

Maybe the public school system would be better if we actually funded them. Instead of cutting funding. You know who loves cutting funding for everyone but fetuses and businesses? Republicans.

The state budget is FOUR TIMES LARGER than the general fund's budget. K-12 education is NOT 52% of the California state budget.

And what in god's name do you think they are "indoctrinating" children to believe? How is learning about Math, English, Literature and Science now some form of indoctrination? I swear, I honestly don't think some conservatives will be happy until we're all as dumb as rocks. But then again, why am I surprised? It's a heck of a lot easier to get ignorant people to believe your lies than it is educated ones.
Originally Posted By skinnerbox <<It's a heck of a lot easier to get ignorant people to believe your lies than it is educated ones.>> Bingo! That's why corporatist conservatives and their supporters want public education to fail. And they will use their flying monkeys like Beau to spread false information across the blogs and discussion boards, to get folks upset enough to demand its elimination. Post #13 is a shining example of how they're doing it. Spread enough false facts to upset the voters and sway their opinions in favor of your goals, and you're halfway home. Of course, you need an ignorant populace to pull this off. Destroying public education is the best way to do it.

How ironic is that?
