It had been written as sheet music for girls' choir in 1941. Harry Simeone and his arranger Henry Onorati essentially stole the song when they remade it in 1958, changing the title and listing themselves as co-composers instead of the real songwriter Katherine K. Davis. This "oversight" was corrected on later pressings ... after the lawsuit settled out of court.

It has intro/commentary by Julie Andrews and Plummer, a reunion of all the kids, great 30 min on the Liesel actress (goes on tours and sings with tourists) and an A&E documentary on the real Von Traps and Maria. It was at my public library.
