My friend saw it recently at a special screening and said it was "a very cute movie. [She] liked The Incredibles more, but Cars was very cute."

Personally, I don't think any computer animated movie can top The Incredibles. Maybe its sequel.

What's with Time magazine and their early "article-slash-review" hybrids. They did this with Chicken Little, declaring it the best family film in years. It seems weird.

One more thing...this part of the article was especially sad"

"It's Mater who teaches Lightning the truth of any Lasseter film: friendship is family. "To Lightning," he says, "Mater represents pure friendship. Like a dog: 'I'll be by your side forever.'" (Mater was the inspiration of Ranft, whose story-tweaking genius infused every Pixar movie. Tragically, he died last August, when the car he was in missed a turn on that beautiful winding road, California's Pacific Coast Highway.)"

I remember that so well -- all the comments about how can you enjoy a movie where you feel under water most of the time --yadda yadda yadda...

I just think there is a certain segment out there 'hoping' for PIXAR's first bomb...kinda sad

Naysayers will be silenced, with another Pixar smash hit.

It will be one heck of a Creative Advisor honeymoon for John, when he returns from the six-week Lasseter Family Vacation after Labor Day.

I think it's human nature that a lot of people want to see those with the most success, take a tumble. I think it's why so many people seemed thrilled to see Tom Cruise act all crazy - seeing someone with such wealth, talent, good looks, etc. take a bit of a tumble makes them feel better about their own mundane lives?

    Well, that's my theory anyway.

Will this be Pixar's first bomb? I have to admit that it's the first Pixar movie that I have almost no interest in seeing - the previews have done nothing for me. Still, their track record speaks for itself and I have no doubt in my mind that Cars will be a critical and financial success.
