Murphy, 28, provides the voice for the character Luanne Platter on the animated TV show "King of the Hill." Her voice will be the first ever to emanate from the mouth of Peter Pan's feisty sidekick in a Disney animated film. The direct-to-video film is due out in 2007. Disney's Fairy franchise rolled out last fall and follows on the success of the company's Princess line, which has grossed $3 billion in fiscal 2005." So, Tinker Bell is going to speak now? I sure wish she wouldn't. I loved her pantamime and character that showed through without talking. It's a very hard thing to do, since she's never spoken before and you now have to come up with a voice that fits...and I don't think Brittany Murphy is it. Although, I will have to give her the benefit of the doubt. I just don't like the fact that Tink will talk. Who's next, Dumbo or Dopey?

Actually, Tinker Bell has spoken before. just not in film, but if anyone has that Fan-made audio collection to celebrate the 50th, they will have heard her. On Disc 13 there is a "Tour of Disneyland" from 1955, and it is narrated by Tinker Bell, and joined by Mickey, Donald and Goofy.

The REAL Tinker Bell just jingles and tingles--which is something her 'wanna-be replacement' could never do correctly. ORGOCH: Moral ta the story? Don't accept imposters claimin' ta be somethin' they aint!!! ORWEN: There's only ONE Tinkerbell and informed Disney fans know which one that is.

But just to put it in perspective, she speaks in the Barrie story, only people can't understand her & it sounds like a tinkling bell. I can understand the part about here speaking but not being understood by humans...however, the Disney version she never even attempts to speak. She does everything through body movement. I think if they lose that part of her character because she can now talk, that will be a shame. I'll have to wait to see what the final product looks (and sounds) like, but so far, I'm very skeptical.

Any attempts to created a whole new world for her for the purpose of satisfying the greedy is unappealing and unnecessary. Sequels and Further adventures of certain characters only cheapen the original versions of such icons.

Yeah, there is precident for her speaking based on the original stories, but her Disney version will lose some integrity when she opens her mouth. We'll have to see how this all works out. Oh, and Witches, from what I've read recently, it seems that DisneyToon Studios (the ones responsible for the prequels and sequels) is actually pursuing that route of exploring certain characters and creating new stories for them rather than making direct sequels and such. So, those "Genie" movies might be made after all!
