Some of it is quite beautiful. Stunning, even.

They're referencing the original PETER PAN as launching point in both use of color and style, but this Fairy World approach - their particular territory - has its own feel, even more lacy and curvy and romantic. They're really investing this with some terrific talent, and I think the way the characters are rendered are going to please everyone as well.

From what I saw of the storyboards, I think the story could be pretty strong, too, considering the subject matter, and that this whole thing erupted from a desire to sell toys and clothing. It's evolved into much more than that. Some of the character design is really terrific. Great attitude and personality... and I'm not one for stuff geared to girls. (there are male characters also)

Anyway, just saying that I think this franchise could be launched well, and with quality.

And I saw a short clip for the Tinkerbell movie on the coming attractions of some DVD. Honestly, it was the most beautiful piece of 3D animation I'd ever seen.

    I have high hopes.

But asking a supporting character to move into a central position, to carry an entire franchise, and remain mute, is kind of unrealistic...

Heck, they didn't even do that with Dumbo, when Disney did that TV series, and that was what - 20 years ago?

But the animation does look amazing. Here's hoping Britney Murphy can treat the character with respect.

And the beauty of her ability to convey strong emotions through pantomime and facial expressions may be partly lost.

I appreciate the fact that they're supposedly doing this project with care and effort, but the evil non-kid-friendly side of me would rather have no human voices in the movie and make it subtitled for all of us who don't speak "fairy". ;D

Hasn't Tinkerbell spoken at some time before? I seem to remember a read along album or something? Nothing major, but something.

Yes! She was your hostess on a wonderful record set that Mattel put out in 1956. "Your Trip to Disneyland on Records." It included a large foldout map of the park, cutout characters to perch at various strategic locations on your record player (including a crocodile that went on your tonearm), and five 7" cardboard picture 78s containing very short and somewhat inaccurate guided tours of the various lands with your Favorite Disney Characters (TM). Tink was the MC on three of the sides, including the introduction.

She came across rather like your stereotypical Disneyland tourguide, aggressively enthusiastic and perky but with excellent diction. A pretty good voice for her, at least in her TV-hosting incarnation.

Methinks someone is setting him up with bad info intentionally. The film WAS off track - over a year ago. But they seriously re-worked the story, scrapped most of what was being done, and they're very well along into the new version.

They could be off track again, but having just seen a lot of the work for this movie, and the very happy people working on the project... I don't think anything of consequence is being seriously postponed or reworked.
