We usually stay at one of the resort hotels, but we're doing things less expensive this time.

Is it faster to walk or take the ART? And how does the ART thing work anyway LOL!

If you walk up Walnut to the Grand Californian, you can shortcut through DownTown Disney. It's also a pleasant walk back at the end of the evening.

More than likely, using ART would be a bit quicker than walking (which is just over one mile one way).

Here is the route that Disney would recommend, go down Katella to Disneyland Drive and head North. Do not walk up Walnut, as there is a solid wall until Magic Way, which is near the parking structure. I avoiding going thru the Grand California, as some folks get lost trying to find the exit to Downtown Disney.
