More than that, it leads to disaster. Osama Bin Laden, for example, would have no qualms about killing off anyone who doesn't believe in HIS particular religion. At the same time, there are many conservative politicians in America who would--in a much more subtle fashion--create laws and situations that would end up oppressing and--in certain case--killing off those who do not practice THEIR particular religion. Where does it end? So many Conservative types have a blind spot when it comes to mixing politics with religion, not seeing that it's such a nasty thing--and some of us really don't believe the Founding Forefathers of America ever intended for there to be the kind of discrimination against ANY particular group--just because they didn't believe a certain way that lined up with Christian doctrines. Therefore, it's no wonder the line between Osama Bin Laden and certain Conservative types in America becomes blurred at times. It's a matter worth pondering--for those who care to find out the truth of what's going on behind the scenes. So many subtle evils exist in the American Government and these evils are growing in number all the time. ORGOCH: Best if'n ya all woke up an' smelled the brew, don'tcha's think? ORDDU: My sisters and I predict that--even if every single person in America WAS a professed Christian--there would STILL be disagreements that would STILL lead to wars. Because, then, the issue would become which DOCTRINES to believe in. Baptism, for instance--do you immerse totally or just sprinkle water on the head? In some religions, sprinkling isn't considered true baptism. ORWEN: And there's also the issue of which day of the week is the true Sabbath? Is it Saturday or Sunday? Depending on what you choose to believe, someone will always be considered 'wrong'. ORDDU: Therefore we submit to you--again--how dangerous it is to mix politics with religion. It's sure to be a losing battle for all--unless you're the type who enjoys arguing and fighting just for the sake of being difficult and controlling. ORWEN: In which case, THOSE types are the one's who ought to be banned from the rest of us.

I'm not sure they can be separate. Of course, there are plenty of people who practice no religion at all and still care deeply about social issues. I don't know how many of them are in the government though...
