    >>A U.S. federal appeals court rejected a last-minute appeal on Monday to reconsider the evidence in the case of Stanley Tookie Williams, the former Crips gang leader slated to be executed at 12:01 a.m.(3:01 a.m. EDT/0801 GMT) on Tuesday.

The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which in February declined to reconsider the death penalty verdict against the high-profile inmate, rejected a renewed appeal filed on Sunday.

Also on Sunday the California Supreme Court rejected a similar appeal. Williams' lawyers say they will also appeal on Monday to the U.S. Supreme Court, which has also declined to reopen the case in the past.<<

    >>Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger refused Monday to spare the life of Stanley Tookie Williams, the founder of the murderous Crips gang who awaited execution after midnight in a case that stirred debate over capital punishment and the possibility of redemption on death row.<<

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger issued the following statement today following his decision not to grant clemency to convicted murder Stanley Williams:

"Clemency cases are always difficult and this one is no exception. After studying the evidence, searching the history, listening to the arguments and wrestling with the profound consequences, I could find no justification for granting clemency. The facts do not justify overturning the jury's verdict or the decisions of the courts in this case."<<

Those who riot... they should be punished. Even if I was against clemency (and honestly, I don't know how I feel about the death penalty), this decision is no excuse for lawlessness, IMO.

    2. Don't buy into "their just frustrated with the system argument"
    3. But most importantly, stay safe.
