Tornadoes is Orlando

Has anyone heard whether the tornados that touched down during the night had any effect on WDW? It appears that they were north of WDW in the Lady Lake area but noone has mentioned WDW so I thought I'd ask.

I lived through the horrible tornadoes that hit Kissimmee a few years back...the next day I saw a car, on it's headlights, smack down in the middle of a convenience store!

Poor Vero resort, after 2 hurricane licks it doesn't need any more severe weather

Hello everyone. I'm staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.. we sustains some damage from heavy rain and winds. I think the western half of the property sustains the most damage from the storms. There were no tornados on property. But lots of helicopters flying around property today surveying the damage. I don't know of any structural damage. Here at the AKL there was a roof leak in the main lobby. The pool areas are covered with leaves and tree debris. Not too much of a big deal. I know CNN is doing non stop coverage of the damamge. But it looks like the tornados were well north of the Disney property.

No it was not a big deal because Orlando is nowhere near Lake County. Even Tom above said it was not a big deal...
It's regreattable that some people did die.. and probably because they are in trailer parks (but do not know for sure), but frankly... is there was something more worthy to cover in the news today (like Bush quitting and going to Mars permanently) the press would not be on top of this story like flies on a pile of...

candy.

I lived (and still do) just a couple of miles from where those tornadoes hit back then, and that was the week Universal had intended to open Twister, which got delayed out of respect to those affected.

Yes, they were trailer park residents. So it's actually more like 8 apartment dwellers or 4 homeowners killed which makes it not so bad, right?

Thank you, LP Florida residents, for the updates. The national media has been hyper-sensationalistic today about "TRAGEDY IN FLORIDA!" without bothering to specifiy where the weather-related damage occurred.

Honestly, I stood in front of a television here today for twenty minutes to try to get a clue as to whether LP friends of mine in Orlando might have been affected. I saw the same breathless reporters over and over, saying nothing. I saw the same videotape, over and over, of an overturned SUV in a trailer park (SOMEWHERE).

God forbid that anything of larger import should ever happen and those of us in the rest of the country would depend on the media to keep us informed. 'Cause it sure as hell didn't happen this time. It was all about reporters' face time and endless repeating of the same 15-second loops of demolished trailer parks.
