The 3-d and the ride invention better kick butt or they may have another Flick Faire reject on their hands. I feel that TSM was built to try and kick Superman at Islands of Adventures butt, however, I am not feeling that buzz. The ride doesn't seem big enough, feels a bit forced, retro-fitted into that small area on Paradise Pier (I also feel being on PP cheapens the ride a tad). Of course, Ill be there when they allow AP's to ride and will give my final verdict, however, Im just not feeling the excitement of say an Indiana Jones, Star Tours, Expedition Everest. Thoughts?

That building (at least the part that you see inside the park) is amazing! It has the same level of detail that is found on Main Street. It's the most detailed building IMO in all of DCA. Yes, it does look a little out of place in Paradise Pier right now, but they are working on that too. There are plans to do major cosmetic work all over the entire park, and PP is scheduled to begin the rest of its work after the summer crowds leave this year, if not sooner in places. I never got the feeling that this was supposed to be related to Spiderman at all, since there is very little in common with the two. Sure, they both use 3D projections while on a moving vehicle, but that's about the extent of it. Spiderman tries to make you feel like you're a part of the comics, and TSMM will try to make you feel like you're playing larger than life midway games. If that doesn't fit into the theme of the Pier (with the slight exception of the Toy Story theme overlay on an otherwise logical attraction choice) I really don't know what would.

Is this realism based on your barometer of expectations? BTW, you see the unload area? the cue? Looks like a baron werehouse to me (or, like the Screamin' cue) -I never got the feeling that this was supposed to be related to Spiderman at all, since there is very little in common with the two. You dont find that 2 rides using similar 3-d technology in an emmersive ride experiecne to have little in common? Fascinating.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they used Spiderman to get them thinking about an attraction that uses 3D, but I don't think that this is Disney's answer to Spiderman. I see Spiderman as Universal's answer to Indy, and-to me at least-Disney's still waiting for them to the same level as Indy. I don't think that this is supposed to be a huge draw like Screamin or Tower of Terror, but I also don't see this being as minor as Monsters Inc. For me, it looks like it will be somewhere in between. It may not be the whole reason that people plan a vacation to DL, but it will certainly be on their must-see list while they're there. "Looks like a baron werehouse to me (or, like the Screamin' cue)" It doesn't look any worse to me than any of the Fantasyland darkrides, which all have a similar quasi-outdoor situation. They are very open and airy, but still have theming on the ceiling and support columns. Then, on the other side of the track, there's a big mural that tells us something about the attraction. In this case, it's where they try to shoehorn that stupid backstory of Andy's room. For being a structure that really only has a floor and ceiling that's themed to look like what it is (just like in Fantasyland), I'd say they did a darn good job.

Poor example. Black lights are minor elements to enhance the attraction. Computer Projected 3-d is the star of the show, in both Spider Man and Toy Story Mania. -It doesn't look any worse to me than any of the Fantasyland darkrides, which all have a similar quasi-outdoor situation. Hey, we agree! Fantasyland rides were too C-Ticket Attractions! hence, TSM cue = C-Ticket Ride cues! Sad that DCA not getting an E-Ticket! Thanks for making my point even more clear!

And it is perfectly fitting for a C to D ticket attraction.

Kennect, did you not read post 3, which corrected this? However, I would guess 99.99% of this board knew what I mean when I said Superman. -Based on what it is, I would not call it a C. It's probably what would have been a D ticket, like Buzz is. Buzz is easily a C-Ticket ride, no more. -Oh WIlliam, post 10...another one who simply use common sense!

It's a plussed D ticket and one that's priced around 80 million dollars. That's a nice D ticket. The Monster ride was a C ticket and it cost 30 million. The ride will be nice, inventive, especially come the holidays, and people will really see the beginning of the new park. One which has actual Disney rides.

Show me for a fact that you know TSM is $80 million? A blind guess, I am sure!

As I think I've already stated, the building is far more than adequate for hosting the attraction and is one of the most detailed buildings that Disney's ever created. It's probably the most detailed building at DL since Splash Mountain. If that's not enough for you, then I'd really like to know what is. "A blind guess, I am sure!" That's the number that's been thrown around in various blogs and newspaper (yes, ones printed daily on real paper) articles for quite a while now. It also seems to be inline with the price of other recent additions like the $30 million for Pooh and $120+ million reported for Nemo. Everything that I've heard about it so far would make me put it in the D-ticket category. They don't seem to be marketing it as a huge ginormous fix the park in one swoop kind of thing. They seem to realize that it's scope isn't quite that broad (perhaps because of capacity, anybody know what it's supposed to be like?), but it should still be quite a sight to see once it's up and running.
