They only do the rope drop when the park has a later opening time (9 or 10am), and there's no Magic Mornings. If the park opens at 8am, they open the entire park at once, instead of using Main Street as a holding area. If there are Magic Mornings, they need to keep the guests sorted out, and the easiest way to do that is keeping the non-MM folks outside the front gates. So to get a rope drop, you need to be there on an off-season weekday that they're not doing Magic Mornings; it's much more rare that you'd think.

I'm sorry to hear that. The good news is that DL isn't going anywhere and there's some cool new stuff in the pipeline for when you can afford to take a trip.

Agreed, and they are great. Though I wonder if with the Walt's makeover, they will get copies of the wonderful pictures at Walt's in Paris - there is the early pictures of Walt and his family growing up, start of the studios, early Disneyland with dignitaries etc.

I too like Storytellers for breakfast, but we go a la carte, the fruit covered french toast is awesome. MMMMMmmmmmm

I have young kids who A) get up early (unless I want to) and B) who are breakfast folk.

The other thing I love is staying at the Grand and ordering french toast as room service and then eating it on the balcony!!!

Do what we do. Get up early, then leave the park in the early afternoon where it is busiest and hotest, go for a swim and nap, then go back to the parks in the evening til close. We did this even before kids.

Or sometimes we will do an early day first day, then have a slow start with swimming and maybe a character brunch then go to the park for the afternoon and evening.

We do not do commando anymore unless we are with 1st timers (or inexperienced friends). Much more enjoyable that way.

I am sorry to hear that CC, good luck in the search. and please be kind to him even after he starts a new job. I know it crushed me for years when I was laid off, and still does sometimes.

LP is a lot slower these days than it used to be, so surely it is not the volume of posts?

Even thought we were not IN the bar itself, I really enjoyed the ambiance with the large stone fireplace, tiki torches and Hawaiian music drifting across from the bar.

And my dear friend Joel(he used to post here as Covnut... remember him?)proposed to his girlfriend. It was a pretty magical evening!

And she said yes. :) There is a video of it on my facebook - https://www.facebook.com/#!/video/video.php?v=2097291074902

(Its not the best and I wish I could have mic'd Joel up but that might have given away the surprise. LOL)

Good advice. I think I'm going to try the DLH on my next visit. The new pool/lounge and terrace next to Trader Sam's would be a very tempting escape from the parks.

I remember him. Sounds like a fun and romantic evening.
