If you don't post here often you may be a bit out of the loop and might need time to get reacquainted with the various groups in the different sections. I think it goes without saying that no one in the DLR boards is purposefully trying to exclude other LP members. It may feel cliquish to some, but the fact is that there is no deliberate effort being made to exclude anyone. "There is no one on these boards I would purposely ignore." I wouldn't go that far. lol.

However, I think there is a tendency for a few folks here to dominate threads and only respond to each other - and very often off-topic. It makes some of us not even want to post anymore as it seems no one wants to listen. On a message board, the only way you know you're being listened to is if someone responds. Otherwise....

The food that we tried was delicious and arrived within five minutes of ordering. We had the ahi poke and the kalua pork flatbread. The atmosphere was great if a little too theatrical looking--if that's the right term. I like my tiki bars to have a little grunge to them. But all in all the detail that went into this place is pretty amazing. The service was pretty bad. There were a couple of bartenders who were okay but one was downright terrible. Unfortunately, they seem to have one bartender work each side of the bar and if your bartender is slow the other one doesn't help out. It's a bad arrangement that needs to change. The effects, while amusing in the first fifteen minutes, get REALLY old after a while. There are a few specific drinks that, when ordered, a bartender pushes a button, and lights change and things happen. (I won't spoil it) But when they happen almost constantly the novelty wears off. Also there are bar stools that randomly start to lower and there's nothing you can do about it. The bar will soon be at chin level and your seat won't go back up. It's annoying and I saw a few people get pretty irritated. The bartenders seem to be required to yell at people holding the door open. I guess it's supposed to be funny but it just comes off as awkward and strange. All in all I applaud Disney for their effort and I am sure the place will work out its service issues before long. I'll definitely check it out again. >> Sorry for not responding sooner CM, but I really thought your post was interesting because I know your insight is very valuable. My expectations of Trader Sam's were already tempered before your review and are even more so now. But I look forward to getting a Lost Safari with you sometime in the near future. Maybe things will be better then.

But my friends and I had the greatest time at Trader Sams. I had the regular Mai Tai and found it to have sufficient alcohol and that they used quality mixers. I've had enough Mai Tais, over the years, that were way too sugary sweet. Trader Sam's certainly makes a good one. Also, I ordered the fish tacos. They come three on the plate. They were very tasty, albiet, very small. Also, we split an order of the chicken wings. A bit too sweet for my preference, but very good none the less. Our service was excellent, prompt and very attentive. That was around 1:00 pm when we got in there and most of the bar stools were already occupied. In chatting up the bartender staff I now know a couple of more strategic bits of info. Indeed, they kick kids out at 8pm. Also, the facility only seats 45 at a time, so they employ a door person when the place starts to get real busy. And they do get a long line of people waiting to get in. So far, the trend is for the place to empty out from 8:30 to end of fireworks, then wham, they get super busy. Can't wait for my next go-round.

Are you replying to what you vaguely remember the thread was about? Are you replying to what you think the thread should be about? I personally find this rude - this is like cutting in line and taking over the conversation. I find this usually derails a thoughtful on-topic thread and takes it toward off-topic randomness and personal conversations. And back to topic - yes, Napa Rose is sensational. Definitely a priority!
