Maybe it means they're just saying it in a way that sounds different when reading than what it does when writing. Or maybe it was unintentional. Or maybe you just have the wrong impression. The word "troll" is a pretty easy word to toss around, and it almost never is right. Speaking for myself, I don't troll this board. I put posts here, and have always put posts in here that basically express what I feel, and nothing more. If I am annoyed, you hear it, but I do not post just to make someone else mad, and never have. Not once. I post to express what I feel, period. Sometimes that is not always the nicest thing. Some people dislike that I'm not as deferential as I should be. I try to be as polite to people as they are polite to me, and I expect the same from others. If someone gets offended, then I am perfectly willing to apologize, when I think it is warranted, which is now and then. I've had a lot of junk tossed my way. Most of it is undeserved, frankly. And because of that, I don't have a lot of patience dealing with people who think it is perfectly acceptable to be rude to me or that it is somehow my fault that they behave badly. The worst example of this was when someone said something to me that was so far over the line that I was even surprised, and the apology I got contained the statement "I am sorry you let me go that far." It's not my fault. But that person, while they did that, certainly was not a troll, either. People need to stop blaming others for their behavior, and stop calling people whose opinions or wording you disagree with to be "trolls." I may be obnoxious or whatever, but I am not a troll.

It's not like your reputation is going to be ruined. This is not 'real', it's just a place to post, basically, anonymous messages. I know that some people take it way more serious than that. This is a huge part of their life...maybe that's healthy, maybe not. But the occasional 'troll' who comes along should be laughed at and ignored. Anyway, I just don't see it as such a big deal. And yes, I've been taunted many a time.

My suggestion is if someone says things you don't like, then don't bother talking to them. That works best. What works least best is engaging in a fight with them and saying they are lowlife for whatever reason. That generally makes you at least as bad as them on every level.
