LOL, Mom must LOVE that! Thanks so much for everyone who gave their support & prayers. I really appreciate it. Big hugs & kisses!

One time I was called by a nurse and was told "your mom is ready to be picked up now" and I was very confused. The nurse was very surprised that my mom had not called to tell me that she fell and hit her head and needed some surgury. Parents!

But she was frustrated to watch tourists from other countries being picked up days ago by their country's planes. I kept wondering why the US didn't send in military transports to get our people out of there. Sorry, didn't mean to start a WE thread here, lol.
Originally Posted By wendebird They're finally home & I got to speak with my Mom tonight! She said they got evacuated on Thursday to a school a little inland. They were there Thursday-Saturday evening. There was 45 people to a room. Everyone got a lounge chair cushion to sit on & a blanket. She said one person had to be rushed to the hospital during the hurricane & had his gallbladder removed. Another woman used the bathroom in her bare feet (ewwwww) slipped & broke her arm. Another huge fiasco with the hurricane droning on. My Mom said almost all the windows & doors had been blown out by Saturday & before that, it was well over 100 degrees in these rooms because there were so many people in one room. They had to keep the windows & doors shut or the windows would blow out. The lower level of the school had about 6" of water, so they decided to take everyone back to the resort. Wilma was a Cat 2 by then & the resort was the opposite direction Wilma was taking. It took 13 bus loads to get everyone back to the resort. My Mom said once they got to the resort, it was paradise for them. All the close confines + heat and no showers = a lot of stinky people! She did say a lot of people only brought x amount of medication for x number of days they'd be away. My parents brought their full bottles & there was some sharing between people for needed medications. Another man tried several times to get a call through. He got everyones number & a brief message. Then drove to higher ground (after Wilma was gone) & tried to make the calls. We never got any of them. He also tried to email everyone from a place downtown. I never got it. So my parents DID try to contact us. lol Also, they never knew when they were going home. I actually knew more from home than they did. They told them yesterday to be in the lobby at 5 AM. It was a first come, first serve type thing. Also, you weren't allow on airport property unless you had a boarding pass. Many people were left stranded just outside the airport because they didn't have one. No one checked anything either, Passports, ID, nothing. Just a piece of paper that was a boarding pass. My Mom did say Hooters is a charter airline & there weren't any Hooter girls on board. She said they looked like regular flight attendants. She also said it was a great flight & the plane was super comfy, much better than their flight down there. So again, I thank everyone for their prayers & I'm so thankful to have my Mom & Dad home safe & sound.
