Just what she wants. All the bells and whistles (within our 1K budget, anyway).

We are told that the laptop will be delivered by UPS and someone over the age of 18 must sign for it.

Our delivery time is tomorrow. That's a Saturday. No big deal. We can hang out and wait for Mr. Brown.

Piratebrittany comes home from school...and what do you think is lying on our front porch???

You guessed it. The laptop. For all to see. I do not live in a fancy neighborhood, folks. Almost every one of my neighbors could probably use a nice laptop if you know what I mean.

I cannot believe UPS would just leave it there for all to see. And, not require any signature??? Joe Shmoe could have picked it up and had a grand old time.

Is it worth filing a complaint? No harm was done, other than this giving me a major case of the "WHAT IFS".

Call them and ask for proof of delivery. Tell them you didn't get it and see how they sweat.

We get tapes delivered all the time. Masters, important clones, etc. I hate when delivery companies make gross oversights like this. Not getting a signature leaves them on the hook.

Someone needs to know at UPS so that something doesn't happen again and the next teenager's laptop is stolen.

Folks, I am mad because I know how hard she saved up for this and how furious our entire family would be if it went missing.

I for one am actually a bit envious of this---every time UPS has to deliver something to me, they always make me have to see a deliverman in person and sign for it, and with my weird and heavy schedule it's very very hard to ever see one. It's always so frustrating that there's a box they can check that says "If you allow the customer to check this box, then delivery may be made without a signature". Arrrgh! That would make things SO much easier.

I would call and complain too (especially since they delivered on the WRONG DAY), but at least you can take comfort in the bottom line, that you do indeed have the package. :)

I don't think this is all that big of a deal. I wouldn't lose much sleep about a package sitting out on my porch, even if it was for a couple of days.

As for the error, it could have caused a serious problem. I would check to see if the package was marked properly and them let management know what happened so they can try to improve what, normally, is a very good system.

TALL, go ahead and sign the back anyway. You are giving approval for it to be delivered regardless if you're available to sign or not. Unless it's a multi-hundred $ item or more, then I think this would be fine to do.

Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose of having something shipped??? And if I've paid for shipping (and even if I haven't... let's face it, the cost is still passed along even if the shipping is "free"), it is even worse to have to go drive to a UPS location to pick something up.

    We hate UPS.

I had a delievery due here yesterday, we have an automatic opening gate on our property and the delivery driver pressed the bell at the intercom. I was home and just as I opened my front door the driver threw the box over the gate and drove off!
Geez, barely 30 seconds had passed since he had rung the door bell.

Lucky nothing was breakable in the parcel, it was just heavy, however the bottom of the box had opened and all the peanut packing went eveywhere and then Woody ran off with the peanuts in his mouth, so it was a Lovely delivery moment! lol

I did consider ringing the company but decided not to as I did get the parcel and nothing was broken.
