Utah families buy 'Diary of a Porn Star' in DVD mix-up

SALT LAKE CITY -- Mormon music fans thought they were getting a DVD about the squeaky clean boy band Everclean. Instead, they got "Adored: Diary of a Porn Star."

Two Utah families reported the packaging mix-up after buying DVDs at Deseret Book stores, which are owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The DVDs were pulled from the shelves.

BTW, Sons of Provo is a mockumentary style movie about a FICTIONAL boy band in utah. The movie is VERY low budget, but has some laughs. The CD soundtrack is fantastic, but full of Utah/Mormon culture inside jokes.

Halestorm Entertaiment is offering $100 to anyone who got the wrong DVD. I feel terrible for that company!

However, if you can't get enough of Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind and other like-minded movies, you might want to catch Sons of Provo. If you're not familiar withe the mormon culture, you probably won't get 90% of the humor.

Oh, and it looks like "Adored: Diary of a Porn Star" is NOT a porn flick. It's a foreign film about a gay porn star; I don't know how much "R" or XXX material it contains.

utahjosh... You just named four of my very favorites (Christopher Guest and company are just TOO funny!) I'm not Mormon, but living in Vegas I'm real familiar with a lot of the culture... Might have to give the ol' "Sons" a shot. :)

DlandDug (and Josh), isn't Family Home Evening still on Thursday nights? ;-)

They have fun, teach children lessons from the scriptures, have treats, songs, games, or whatever. It really is a wonderful thing.

Doesn't have much to do with the Sons of Provo, however!

I live in Utah too, and I think the Mormon church gets a bad rap and is unfairly accused of running a theocratic state. But it's stuff like this that makes people raise their eyebrows.

That one's probably a myth or at least an exaggeration. But the highest incident of anti-depressant use isn't.
