Sure, adults will still be boors, and you have to deal with them on their own. But I think in general it's asking too much of even the most polite kid to sit quietly in a fine dining location and not fidget. vbdad's kids are better behaved than most. I know I wasn't that good when I was that age. I think 10 and up is a reasonable requirement for such a special restaurant as V&A's. Now, if they start imposing this at other locations I might have more of a problem with it. And Denise, they don't have any age restictions at the Bistro. On my last visit a few weeks ago I saw a couple of kids there, but they were well dressed and well behaved.

I had never been, but I knew it was more of an adult atmosphere than Chefs (so I wasn't sure as far as if there was an age restriction). I hadn't even thought about it, but when I was a kid, I was taken to many finer places. Once to some roast for a senator (I was the only kid AND the only female as I recall - and the whole "roasting" thing sounded horrific, I was maybe 6). I guess I was behaved enough, but going to nicer places wasn't my thing at all. Even when I graduated from high school, he said that my birthday meal could be anywhere. Well, MY "anywhere" was Roy Rogers. Instead, we went somewhere fancy. Nice places were boring, I'd have rather been left in a kids play area.

Yes, I have a wonderful son who is the center of my universe, but sometimes, even if the children are heavily sedated and duct taped to their chairs, it is nice to have adult time. On the same note, if there is an adult party at V&A's that are being disruptive, I feel that they should be delt with as well, and quickly.

There is a place called Beefy King in Orlando, I've not been in a couple of years - but they also have kick-butt roast beef. They've been around for a long time.

I guess my mom never had a shower, because I would have wondered why a bunch of women would want to join her in one.

Nice to know she could eat at the White House but not Vic and Al's - geez !

You can't really compare things like that. There are places that are child restricted, in part because sometimes adults like an evening out without kids around. I'm not really into fine dining, so it isn't something that effects me often. But if I was getting all dressed up for a really nice (expensive) dinner, I would prefer not many kids around. That would include my niece and nephew - who behave very well, but would be bored out of their minds. I feel bad enough if company comes over with kids, but at least we have an X-box and other entertainment options.

If it is an adult venue ( ala the aforementioned Vegas - ) I get it - but nothing about V&A's makes it an adult only venue IMHO.

But I don't doubt there are some kids who may enjoy it. I wasn't one of them.
