I liked that they tried different things with those movies -- it would have been safe to keep making "Beauty and the Beast" over and over, and they didn't.

Sadly, I hate to watch something that disses all the movies I love, just for not being Beauty and the Beast. But, oh, baby...GMD! If that film had tanked, it was bye-bye to animation (or so they say). It made a profit, and the studio was saved! Temporarily, at least.

We saw it digitally projected, and GMT was the ONLY film-based Disney-owned clip in there (AFAICT) that wasn't from a high-def source. They were using a rather fuzzy, dot-crawly standard definition master that had been upscaled. I was also alarmed at how crummy the Little Mermaid transfer looked in comparison to the other HD movie clips. I hope that was an upscale too, but I didn't see any evidence of scan lines so I'm afraid it was the finished product. All the other Disney clips - old, new, TV or theatrical - looked spectacular We hope you've enjoyed this video geek-out. Please exit out the doors to your right.
