If you're in Epcot at that time and the skies are clear, watch for it! You have to look in the right place and it only lasts a few minutes, but it is quite visible.

If you're out front of SSE, look to the east, in the Universe of Energy direction.

If you are in World Showcase at the American Adventure, it would be visible up over Mexico/China/Norway.

If you spot it, tell others who are nearby!

Shows how much you know. It was shuttle "Atlantis," not shuttle "Albatross."

Unfortunately I was not able to get my camera ready in time to take any decent pictures.

While waiting outside at Mission:Space on a beautiful, sunny morning and the knowledge that the shuttle was in fact getting ready to launch, I was wondering why Disney wasn't making some sort of announcement to guests to be watching the skies.

No argument. But it sure is cool to tell the folks back in Minnesota that you can see the shuttle launches from your backyard in Orlando. All you have to do is go outside and look in the right direction.

Night launches are even more fun.

Reminds me of when we were growing up in SoCal. We had some Orange County relatives that had a straight shot of the DL nightly fireworks from the street in front of their house. A very cool bonus!
