WDW food vs. Disneyland Food

    I live in the middle of 2 Baskin Robbins so about the same distance to travel and I know a little about the different owner's history. The pricier one is owned by a wealthy tyrant that inherited the business and treats the employees BAD. My favorite(cheaper priced) is owned by an older woman who purchased it many years ago and still loves working alongside the hi-school students and elderly woman she employs. Needless to say they are both packed on most summer nights...Now that I have re-read this I realize it has nothing to do with Disney. Except I wish I was eating an ice cream cone on Main Street.

    Maybe it's just because I'm more familiar with DLR, but I feel like the choices are pretty narrow for food. As far as sit-down goes, there's really hardly any options. There are two in each park (Trattoria, Ariel's Grotto, Cafe Orleans, Blue Bayou), but are almost always full.

    In WDW, it seems like there's a lot of variety to counterservice. When I was there last spring for 10 days, I don't think we ever had the exact same thing twice. Even if we got burgers twice, they were different in each place. At DLR, the food is identical at the equivalent locations (I don't care what people say, Taste Pilots is the same as Village Haus). Maybe it's a function of hosting more long vacations, or the difficulty of getting food outside of the parks, but WDW does seem to have more going for it. And for sit-down, WDW wins hands down. Yes, it can be difficult to get reservations at certain locations (Cinderella's Table, Le Cellier), but you can make dinner reservations somewhere in any given park at lunch time. I can't say that about DL. Yes, DTD is much more convenient for DL, but the in-park option really aren't convenient.

    For pricing, I think it's related to the relative price of food in the local markets. I've found that food in southern California is absurdly expensive in comparison to other areas of the country. It's tough to get a 'value' meal at McDonalds and keep it under $6, so $11 for the same thing in the park doesn't seem quite so bad. In Florida (and the rest of the country), food prices are lower outside the parks, which helps keep them down inside.

    But DL must get special mention as if I dine in the Blue Bayou, Napa Rose, Steakhouse 55 and the DTD restaurants, I am very happy and would say the quality is good across the board.

    So I would say the resorts are different when it comes to dining.

And there's been a general decline in the food at Walt Disney World in general over the years. The prices go up and the quality goes down. It used to be a lot more satisfying to eat at the Walt Disney World parks but not so much any more.

Absolutely the best creme brulee I have ever had in my life. KJ and I found the bake goods to be far better at DL than at WDW. I sampled breads, cookies...drinks! It just seemed to be much better at DL.

    Isn't this a resort to resort comparison though. I agree with your assessment of WDW though.

    I really can't remember much about the food. I do remember eating at this outdoor pavilion. The hamburgers were really very good. Also there was a live band performing there all the times I went. They had a good looking babe singing with them. For some reason the only song I remember them performing was " Somethings Burning " by Kenny Rogers.
