Last year we did leave MK for a little while on our last day, it was in June. When you have to turn sideways to get from Peter Pan to the Haunted Mansion it's time for a swim break! We did go back that night for our Liberty Tavern reservations. We did discovered that the extra magic hours, are not magic at all, just longer lines without the sun. When you had to buy the wrist band the crowds didn't seem as large.

I don't believe hurricane season starts until August, so you should be alright there. Expect thunderstorms, though. They generally don't last long (just 15-20 minutes a lot of the time), but they do happen. Just go with the flow and enjoy the trip!

A couple trips there was an afternoon thunderstorm lasting 30 - 40 minutes. Crowd levels are easy to deal with except at the MK on weekends and early entry days.

Kissimmee is verrrry close to Disney. You shouldnt have any problems getting there. I thought the crowds in May were great. It really hasn't been so bad at all, you should defintely be able to get everything you want to do done.

Not as close as staying in the Contemporary, but certainly doable.
