What did you end up doing?

You'd think they'd be able to set aside a small percentage for pet owners. I'm not talking about every resort even. Just a section at a value, and maybe a moderate too. For instance, converting the Jazz section at the ASM to pet-friendly accomodation, or the MIghty Ducks section at ASMo (or whichever is least popular/farthest away from the central court.)

The current management is not into listening to constructive criticism or concidering guests' input. All they want to know is how much money you spend and how long you stay on property.. Notice how those persky survey takers around the parks do not ask you about the quality of restrooms, cleanliness of attraction conditions... but ask more about your "status" in regards to "class" and "money". All they care to know is how they can find yet another way to get it out of your wallets.

If that weren't the case, the marketplace couldn't support big-box stores like PetSmart and PetCo, not to mention all the companies that offer upscale products for pets that have spouted up in the last 10 of 15 years. Disney should look hard at this segment they are missing. Not only should they have more pet-friendly accommodations at their resorts, but also carry merchandise designed for dogs and cats. I am fairly confident that a pet boutique with Disney themed items would do exceptional business. At a minimum, they should have a line of items for dogs and cats that could be merchandised in the bigger stores (WoD, etc.)

They have been selling cat and dog merchandise at WOD and other shops on property at WDW (and assume DLR too) for at least a year now. And you should see the cat and dog merchandise line at TDR... it's adorable. Makes me wanna have a female dashund (sp?) and put on her that lovely sparkling necklace. Cute!!!

Also, since Disney has so many rooms, and frequently discount them since they have so much inventory, I don't see how offering pet-friendly accomodations would be a bad decision. It's not like they would have to make massive changes to a resort.... put up a few fences, and it's done.

I agree with you 100%.. It should have been done years ago... as a Disney fan for over 25 yrs and a pet owner, we could not believe that Disney didn't think of it sooner.. they pay those execs big bucks to come up with ideas to make Disney money... they missed the boat on this one... pet owners spend 5 billion a year the last time I looked...

Personally, I do not like this, but when we were there, there seemed to be an awful lot of people travelling with their pets. The rooms over there are not cheap, so it looks like they might be ahead of the curve on this issue, as it seems like a lucrative market to tap. There really is no reason why Disney couldn't make some of their resort rooms pet friendly.
