    >>As if rising gas and food prices weren't enough, a ticket to the Magic Kingdom will soon cost a few bucks more.

The Walt Disney Co. said Friday it is raising one-day ticket prices at its domestic parks starting Sunday.

Tickets for those aged 10 and older to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., will rise from $71 to $75, while tickets for children aged 3 to 9 will go from $60 to $63.

The price increase applies in varying degrees for longer stays, while the park hopper option, an add-on that allows ticket-holders to move among any of Disney's parks, will cost $50, up from $45. <<

does someone have a 5 year chart on AP prices vs single day to check % of increase ?

This is my third year of AP and the price increases I believe not been hugebutI do not knowabout 5 years ago. Ilivein Illinois and only sometimes get to WDW more than once a year - but I always buy the DDE for my visit and for the 8-10 days there and 4+ days at Vero - those savings pay for a sizable chunk of the AP.

Last year we went with my Sisters family and the savings via DDE for 8 of us were over $400.

I knew I had done the math before - but wanted to be sure. It is anything but that they don't wantus to buy AP's - of course they do. Just like DVC money, it's money upfront - and with an expiration date - the best of all worlds for them - especially for people like me who will not be there more than 2 trips and usually 1 per year.

the single day admission has risen 34% from 2003 to 2007
    2003 $53
    2004 55
    2005 61
    2006 64
    2007 71

The AP has risen 18% in that time
    2003 $391
    2004 413
    2005 419
    2006 421
    2007 462

And the Deluxe AP has only risen 13%
    2003 $518
    2004 547
    2005 552
    2006 549
    2007 595

Yes, they are a lot of money, but I think we can stop the panic that they don't want people buying AP's - as it appears to be quite the opposite.

Also factor in they added a DVC discount to well over 120,000 DVC families of $100 on the AP and $120 on the Del AP.

For DVC members the cost of the AP has actually gone down from 2002 to now.

Doesn't make WDW any more affordable in these tough times for any of us - but the facts sometimes help make sense of things like this.

Only at WDW and only in the Orlando market is this going on. Yes, Disney will get away with it but they are really pushing it with the latest price increase. And now it is $50 extra to park hop. That to me is where they are really sticking it to people. Typical WDW management, raise prices and cutback on stuff.

Lower prices and build tokyo disneysea level attractions and then maybe we will come back to WDW.

So at the mo if it has the words Disney and land in it (not preceded by the words Hong Kong), those are the parks you will find me in.

There's no way in hell I'd pony up $75 for one day at a single WDW park, and certainly no way I'd pay $500 for the AP. I don't think the additions since 2003 warrant an extra $125 for the AP.

On the other hand, I just had a nice 2-day visit to Universal that didn't break the bank and was actually a lot of fun.

I'm not happy about the increase, but it won't cause me to cancel my February trip. I still believe WDW is worth the cost of the increased admission, even though I will admit that the WDW of today is not the WDW of 10 or 15 years past. I don't like the fact that Wonders of Life sits shuttered, nor that a playground replaced 20,000 Leagues after the lagoon sat there for over 5 years without an attraction. I'm bothered by the lack of a new E-ticket in Magic Kingdom for what seems like eons, as well as the fact that MGM is suffused with old, outdated attractions (Sounds Dangerous, anyone?). Even with these issues, I still love WDW and I still get excited when planning my trips.

However, because I don't harp on those problems in post after post after post, I'm considered a pollyanna by some.

But if you buy a Uni FL Annual pass before Aug.31st you get 18 months with no blackout dates with free parking for $199.00 Thats a really good deal.
