It was wonderful to see that Jasmine was no where in sight at the time, too. Anyway, I offered him one of my most engaging smiles. Unfortunately, he suddenly stopped dead in his tracks--as if he'd just seen a ghost. Then he scurried back in the direction he'd just come from. It just goes to show that I'm not the only one who's afraid to ride the Tower of Terror...

As we walked back we could see a strange guy in our spot with my sister. Apparently he was going to be in the parade but could not tell us who he was but he would try to come back after the parade. Turns out he was Prince Phillip and he got us into the cast section for Fantasmic and then went on rides with us until closing. I think my sister reminded him of his mother and he was new to California. Anyway we never tell our sister not to "share" anymore.

But only from a distance because he's usually in a parade or a stage show at the time. How precious it would be if THAT Disney hunk gave me some attention like that?! Sometimes Life can be so unfair...

Back in 97 (our very first trip,) we had saved, scrimped and dreamt for over a year. My shy little boy, a tow-headed 6 year old had thought of nothing but riding Star Tours. He loved Star Wars, had all the figurines. But when the fateful day arrived, he chickened out and we went across the ride to the exit while his older sister rode with her aunts. As the door closed and the ride began, his little lip trembled, his head bent and two huge tears rolled out of his eyes. He was so disappointed with himself. My heart broke as I struggled with what on earth was I going to say to make this right. Suddenly, I became aware of someone right beside me and I noticed two very hairy feet next to my sons feet. There he was in all his glory, Chewbacca! He was great! I whispered in my sons ear that someone wanted to see him. My son looked up and despair turned instantly into awe. Chewie took a step back and spread his arms our and awe turned to joy as my boy flew to give that wookie a big knee hug. Just then two ewoks came down the corridor and started to play with my boy. They ruffled his hair, put on his ball cap, played with his pooh sunglasses and delighted his so totally that he never gave another thought to his dissapointment. Just a few minutes later he saw them greeting guests and he decided he would ride Star Tours after all. Magic. So is it any wonder that our family keeps going back? I didn't mention that my son has a disability that made speech very difficult for him and social interactions at that time was very limited. Makes me even more grateful.

I realize sometimes the characters are supposed to really 'play up' a role, but I don't think it should be at the expense of the comfort of the guest. I seriously couldn't enjoy my food and I just sat there until it was time to go, then we high tailed it out of there faster than you could say bibbidi bobbidi boo!!! This was about, gosh, OVER a decade ago, but it was pretty darn bizarre. Still to this day when I see a pluto character I remember that incident...LOL!

Once he was all soaked, he got out of the pool. He held his finger up to his lips like he was telling us, "Shhhhhh." He tiptoed up so a man who was lying on his stomach, tanning his back in a louge chair. Then he clasped his soaking wet gloves together and wrung the water out of them onto the unsuspecting sunbather's back. The place went nuts with laughter and applause. The "victim" took it like a true sport, and Goofy ran back to the idling speedboat, hopped in, and tore away.
