Well, although he still doesn't have his citizenship (we finally got the application through last September), we have now got confirmation that the Landed Immigrant Card (along with his valid British Passport) will be available before we travel in August.

We did have one hiccup that almost freaked me out. We sent in the application for the passport, and had it back in two weeks. At the same time I had sent the application for the Landed Immigrant card. I finally got that returned to me a month later, as the immigration officials had not put his middle name in on his landing papers. I now had to reapply for his landing papers to show the change of name. When I phoned about a month later, I was told that they hadn't even looked at my application and it would be approximately 8 more weeks. Aaack... add to that the fact that I needed to submit the change of name to get the Landed Immigrant card (which was another 6 weeks) and it wouldn't have been ready before we left.

Then a kindly government official told me that if I sent them a copy of my itinerary that they could expedite the process.

Well, a week later, I had the change of name. I resubmitted the application for the Landed Immigrant Card, and yesterday I got confirmation that it had now been approved!

We can go! It's our 20th anniversary in September, and we have planned to go to Vegas for 4 days and then spend 5 days in Disneyland. Somehow, it wouldn't have been the same without him.. lol

Sorry this is so long, I had to share my exciting info!

    ROFL! Great news!

Frustrating that they didn't include his middle name on the paperwork. Did you find out how that happened? It's amazing to me how difficult it is to get paperwork done for this sort of thing. So much waiting!
