It's as if this decade is unnameable -- that everyone is afraid to say the wrong thing, or that there just IS no term. Nine years into it, and it's still the Decade With No Name. Too weird.

Starting in 2010, there will be a shift away from saying "two thousand" in favor of saying "twenty" - as in "twenty ten", twenty twelve" and so on. It doesn't work for the first nine years because "twenty eight" sounds like 28, so it won't really kick in until 2010. But soon you won't hear anybody saying "two thousand" at all. Ain't that cool?
