What Do You See On POTC Others Miss

After riding Pirates for 44 years, probably over 175 times, I now go out of my way to notice set details that are not part of the main focus.

Expecially, I take time to try and understand the forced perspectives that makes each and every tableau so magically successful.

Or I like to look for the tiniest of prop details and study their placement, grouping or color.

For those who have been on POTC more times than they will admit, what keeps your interest?

Yes, but have you ever noticed the painted portrait of her depicted as she would look in later life placed behind the bar?

The mickey on the chest shield hanging on the wall in the last "scene". I think some folks don't see that.

I also try to figure out what is missing - meaning what was taken out to refurb - like one of the prisoners or an animal or something.

She is very dimly lit, as she shows a bit of cleavage, but she is original to the attraction. And the painting was recently cleaned.

If I'm ever looking for you at the park, an easy way to find you will be to take lots of flash photos on dark rides/shows and see who tried to kill me

I always notice the chair above your head between the prison/dog scene and the final shooting scene. It's as though they've trashed the town so completely that random things like chairs are scattered everywhere, even overhead.

Though I haven't seen it in a while (though I really haven't even though to look for it), one of my favorite little things is the shooting star that goes across the bayou. It's not very frequent, so you could easily miss it due to the timing of your boat passing through the scene.

I also like the previously mentioned painting. She's dressed in a similar manner to Lady Godiva, wearing only a pirate hat, eye patch, and carefully placed hair. While hardly PG-13, it's just one of those things that I don't think Disney has the cajones to do these days, but adds a great little detail to the attraction.

Wait you mean to tell me back in the day Pirates were not PC? I assume you don't mean things like the turntable for the chase scenes or the exit signs. One of the things I notice is the plume. I don't think every rider realizes that it's basically a one way road through the attraction. J/j. I do like the attention to detail such as the canons etc. Hopefully I'll be going this summer and i'll try to look for the painting etc. I swear I will not rest in barrels or show my hairy legs as I sit down and sing, I also swear I'll learn more of the lyrics then the "yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me" which is all i've known for the last 3 decades.

I've noticed the portrait of the Redhead behind the bar, later in her life when she adapts to the pirate lifestyle. It's kind of a sexy picture, at least for a Disney park.

But the part of that portrait that I love the most is that she is wearing striped socks just like the kids working the ride wear. Very clever!
