At the beginning of YOAMD V1.0, people were getting the chance to stay in the Pirate suite, because the MMPH wasn't finished. Once they finished the construction, the Pirate suite returned to taking reservations from the general public, which was the original intention. Now that the penthouse is empty, I believe they are allowing commoners to stay there, since that's what I heard was the plan for it when YOAMD V1.0 was still in action. So, you can use it, but it will probably cost you a small fortune and your first born child.

I don't think that they would want to keep the small army of CM's that it needs all the time, so they'll probably just use it for special VIP or other events. I wouldn't be too surprised if the Fantasmic! balcony seating returned once YOAMD is over, but I don't see that space getting used much more than that.

Her husband is an imagineer and he was awarded a night stay in the penthouse for his family for doing good work. He thinks that since the Dream Suite was opened, the penthouse is now used mostly as a perk for employees. For what it's worth, I too hope that they restore the dream suite space into something that regular park goers can have access to after the company is done giving it away to contest winners and VIPs for overnight stays. Or expand Club 33 into that space - I do remember reading that as a rumor somewhere.
Originally Posted By rtjl72 we were there at the end of july and the beginning of august. our suite was right across the hall from the mickey penthoue. on 1 occasssion there was a young woman there with a newborn baby. i asked her if she won a nights stay. she said her sister was staying there and she did not know how she got the room. this young lady did not look to be of a very affluent background, so i don't know if a nights stay is presented as a perk or what. for another 2 nights ice cube(the rapper guy, not something from the machine down the hall- lol!) and his family were there. the wayans brothers came to party with him one evening! pretty exciting for small town iowa family! yes mollysmom, it's ok to laugh!
