I don't think it's a flop by any means, but I'm sure that the accountants think otherwise. If a movie doesn't break $100 million on the opening weekend anymore, it seems to automatically get a "mediocre" ranking. At least TRON is beating most of the competition and ended number one for the weekend. It might be interesting to see how well it holds up this weekend to judge if it will have any legs.

I actually liked the surfer dude stuff. It incorporates the original Kevin character and also gave a great opportunity to use the Zen line from The Big Lebowski. Overall I really liked the film, and even if it doesn't hit it big with general audiences, I can see it having a huge niche audience that will keep it alive in the geeky sci-fi world for many years to come.

If I want to hear Big Lewbowski dialog I'll watch that movie. <<I mean, come on - this was a popcorn movie, not high-art. >> The point is that this movie isn't supposed to be usual popcorn fare - the writers, director and producer have made it clear that they believe the movie is above that. I found the book scenes to be incredibly dull and trite - particularly the visit to Flynn's zen lair.
