It's pathetic, but I get too depressed by the news so I don't watch it much. Yeah, I'm stupider for it but it's easier to get out of bed each morning.

Don't say that mele, you're not alone on that. I don't watch the news either because of that. All you see basicly is bad horrible things on there. That's why I read the yahoo front page daily news and that's it for me!

Huffington Post requires a bit more discrimination than the others. I like much of what they do, but sometimes they'll post a headline, I'll click on the story, and it's not quite as horrible sounding as they make it out to be.

But truthfully, I'm trying to cut down on my news these days. It's just depressing. And I think it's genuinely depressing because that's what they want - sensationalism. It's not depressing because "facing the facts" is tough. Reality I can handle; manufactured outrage, not so much.

Actually, I get a lot of my news from the WE section of LP. Most of the time, that's where I find out about all sorts of news. Sometimes I'll just see the topic title and go to a news website (or turn on the tv) but there's usually a link or two in the thread.

Living in a very small town, local news travels fast by word of mouth. I also get local news from DW as she works at the local weekly newspaper.

For bigger picture news I usually listen to public radio (CBC and sometime NPR) on the commute to work.
