Some invites were for later in the day, I beleive, but not sure, that the first invites were for 3 PM, though some of the "extras" for the TV show would more than likely shown up earlier (such as the kids running thru the castle, plus the actors (such as Sammy Davis, Jr.) who appeared on the TV special.

While David McPherson was, indeed, the first member of the public to purchase a ticket to Disneyland on July 18, ticket #1 was actually purchased by Roy Disney. It is still held in the Disney Archives.)

Was Fantasyland closed until the draw bridge was lowerd on live t.v. and all those kids ran through the castle? Or was it emptied out just before for the show? I know at sometime throughout the day Fantasyland had a gas leak and had to close for a short time. I'm just curious if they kept that part of the park closed untiL show time for dramatic purposes. Thanks.
