Originally Posted By alphabetmom I would say Old Yeller as he saved peoples lives and was a live character and not animation, and I have never been up front and personal and loved a deer. Where I have an Ol yeller woofer dog myself, who has never saved a life but is very endearing.
Originally Posted By FerretAfros I think Old Yeller is sadder. The way the character development works in that film just makes it kind of painful to watch. At first Travis hates the dog, but as the film progesses, they become the best of friends. Since you watch along as the begin to get along, you feel the power of the relationship. Then he is the one that has to break it off. Bambi, on the other hand, just hangs out with his mom, and someone else shoots her. Yah, it's still really sad, but it doesn't have all the crazy psychological friendship connections backing it up, like with Old Yeller.
